Charlie Kirk (born October 14, 1993, in Arlington Heights, Illinois) is an American conservative political commentator, activist, and author. He is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the youth conservative organization Turning Point USA (TPUSA), established in 2012 to promote free markets, limited government, and personal responsibility on college campuses across the United States. Because of TPUSA’s rapid growth and high-profile campaigns, Kirk has become one of the most recognizable young figures in American conservatism.
Kirk developed an interest in politics early, volunteering in local political groups while in high school. He originally planned to attend Butler University but decided instead to devote himself full-time to conservative activism. Through social media engagement, campus speeches, TV appearances, and radio shows criticizing progressive policies, he quickly built a large following. He has frequently appeared on conservative outlets such as Fox News and Newsmax as a guest or commentator.
Beyond organizational work, Kirk is also a bestselling author, with books such as Time for a Turning Point articulating his views on U.S. politics, education, and culture. He advocates reducing government intervention, safeguarding free speech, and protecting American traditional values while criticizing what he sees as left-wing influence on college campuses and youth culture.
Kirk’s style is bold and often controversial. Supporters praise his success in mobilizing young people into conservative politics and challenging “political correctness,” while critics argue he and TPUSA sometimes oversimplify complex issues or spread misleading or extreme messages. Nevertheless, Charlie Kirk has emerged as an influential voice in contemporary American conservatism, especially among younger generations.
